Contrary to all appearances, this blog has not been abandoned. I’ve actually researched and even taken photos for several blog posts but just haven’t had the time or energy to write. LIFE has intervened, it seems.
I’ve taken one trip (just overnight), planned another (nine days in July), coped with a heavy workload (and the boredom of no work, which makes me lazy), and most recently grieved the demise of my beloved 26-year-old washing machine (and shopped for another, to be delivered this week). And I’ve had a chance to get back to sorting family papers—fascinating but time consuming (and very messy).
More to the point, perhaps, the heat (high of 99° yesterday) has forced me from the street to “the gym.” So I’m still walking, but the scenery is pretty monotonous (even my husband, who walks the indoor track rather than a treadmill, was complaining of this yesterday).
Don’t give up on me. I will be back!
I wrote the above on June 22 and was too lazy even to publish it. Not much has changed except that it has gotten even hotter (heat indexes of 110–115). Our nine-day trip was truncated to eight when our initial flight was canceled and we were sent home to return very early the next morning. When we arrived in Portland (Oregon), it was hot there, too, but temperatures soon moderated, and by the time we got to Astoria (on the coast), it was downright chilly. It was very hard to come home!
At present we have our sixteen-month-old granddaughter visiting, so life is good!
Nice to see you back, even if it’s just a post that says you’ll be back later.
Suzanne,
I was starting to worry. Looking forward to future postings.
